Looking for Sydney Waterfront Wedding Receptions & Function Venues?
So the big day is coming and you are seeking that perfect Sydney location. Here are the top 5 things to keep in mind when looking for Sydney waterfront wedding receptions & function venues...
Picking a wedding function venue can be a nightmare, but the following 5 top tips should help you keep the important things in your mind, so the event can go ahead without any issues...
Easy Access
You may have found the most beautiful restaurant or perfect little outdoor spot, but is it somewhere everybody can get to relatively easy? And is there easy access? For example it wouldn’t be a good idea to have a reception where guests need to park in one place and walk 5 miles to the actually function venue... This applies a lot to outdoor locations.
Protocol
Although you can be as whacky as you like with theme and location, there must be some traditional protocol so people don’t get bewildered. You need to greet your guests, typically in an entrance way (or mock up entrance way). This should either be by the bride’s mother or father, but at least somebody involved and not a member of the location’s staff. This makes everybody feel comfortable and welcome. A good tip is to offer everybody a class of wine on entrance. Also food is an expected concept, so make sure the venue has food on hand, a buffet or meal, for example.
Music/Audio equipment
The venue must be suitable and/or equipped with a music system and microphone. Depending on the size of your reception, those giving the speeches need to be heard by all of the guests, so this is why a microphone is usually needed. Also it is traditional for the bride and groom to have their first dance, and therefore some kind of music is needed. A lot of guests will also like to have a boogie, so floor space should be considered.
Facilities
The venue must definitely have adequate facilities to meet the level of guests. Weddings are full of people dressed nice, who want to check their hair, makeup and use the facilities during the reception. It is also customary for the bride and groom to change in to regular formal clothing after their first dance and speeches, and this cannot be done on top of Mount Everest with ease.
Less is more
Often a simple hall or spacious building is fine for a wedding venue because it then gives you and/or your planner the creative freedom to “dress” the area how you want to. This is even easier within a hotel, where you may select between various locations, picking the one that fits your reception better.
At the end of the day this is your wedding with your friends and family, you know your own protocols and needs, but keeping the above things in mind can save you from some inconvenient problems or things you hadn’t initially considered. Remember to be creative and individual so you can stand out on your big day!
